KITS, Ramtek students develop contactless UV based Sanitizing Machine

The fear of contracting COVID-19 has prompted all of us to disinfect and sanitize our essentials. Keeping this in view, Mr. Shubham Waghmare and Mr. Abhishek Wadibhasme, students of Final Year Electrical Engineering studying at Kavikulguru Institute of Technology and Science (KITS), Ramtek have developed an Ultra-Violet (UV) based sanitizing machine which disinfects any object like mobile phone, masks, money, vegetables etc. placed in its chamber within 8 to 10 seconds. This is a Zero contact machine and requires a very less power. This UV based device is built by using UV light, sensors, mobile charger and few household items. The students donated this machine to Old Police Station; Kamptee for the social use.The machine was accepted by Police Inspector Mr. Devidas P. Kathare, Police Station, Kamptee. He congratulated both the students for their appreciable work and wished them a bright future.

Dr. B. Ram Rathan Lal, Principal, KITS, Ramtek appreciated Head of Electrical Engineering Department Dr. Snehal Pachpor and both the students for the innovative work saying, “This type of project demonstrates how Engineers can innovate, help and provide solutions during the Covid-19 outbreak by applying their skillsets and knowledge”.
