On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army recaptured all the military posts in Kargil that had been occupied by Pakistani troops and militants. As a tribute to the brave heart soldiers participated in Operation Vijay, the NCC KITS Unit celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26thJuly 26 from 5:30 PM to 6:15 PM in the Room number 230.Cadet Under Officer DEVRATNA SAWAITUL briefed about Kargil Vijay Divas and concluded with a famous quote by late Captain Vikram Batra - "Either I will return after hoisting the tricolor, or I will be wrapped in it, but I will return for sure".
Dr. A. N. Shrikhande, Chief guest,welcomed to the venue by pilot march of Cdt. Ritesh Thakare and Cdt. Krishna Pise. At the beginning,Dr. A. N. Shrikhande, Principal, Chief guest,Dr. V. P. Mahatme, Dean of Academics, and Dr. P. S. Ashtankar, Dean of Students Activities, Mr. B. Venkanna, Caretaker Officer, were welcomed with bouquets. Dignitaries, cadets, and students offered floral tributes to the brave soldiers and maintained two minutes of silence who sacrificed their lives for our country.
The chief guest said that 527 soldiers were just a number for us, but their families had gone through lot of pain because of loss of their family members and motivated our cadets to organize more such nation-building events. The Dean of Academics stressed about the hidden enemy, Corona virus, and its impact on millions of lives. The Dean of student activities conveyed the positive and negative sides of war. All the participants sung NCC song and National anthem. Company Sergeant Mr. Chirag Humne conducted the proceedings of the program and proposed a vote of thanks.The event was a great success, with the active participation and efforts of 35 NCC cadets and aspirants under the leadership of Mr. B. Venkanna, Caretaker Officer.
