The Department of Mechanical Engineering under Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Kavikulguru Institute of Technology & Science, Ramtek has organized two days workshop on “Introduction to Internal Combustion Engine” during 11-12 January 2020. The objectives of the workshop are to focus on basics of IC engine, to enhance student’s capability of exploring the details of IC engine and to develop an interest in engine and automobile. Following are the contents of workshop;
1. Introduction to IC engine
2. Components of IC engine
3. Recent advancement in IC engine
4. Maintenance and overhauling of IC engine
5. Live demonstration of assembling and dismantling of HERO HUNK 149cc engine.
Total 76 participants have registered for the workshop from third year and second year Mechanical Engineering. On day one i.e. on 11th January 2020, the workshop began with an Inauguration Ceremony at 10.00 am by the hands of Chief Guest respected Dr. B. Ram Rathan Lal, Principal KITS, Ramtek in presence of Dr. R. K. Bopche, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. P. S. Ashtankar, Asso. Dean Student Activities, Dr. Y. M. Jibhakate HOD, Mechanical Engineering, Coordinators of workshop, HOD’s of various departments, faculty members and participants.
After Inaugural function, Mr. Sanjaykumar A. Borikar presented an introductory seminar on IC engines, he also dealt the engine classifications, working of engine and operating cycles in details. In afternoon session, Dr. A. V. Kolhe and Dr. S. P. Chincholkar, have provided the details of engine components and advances in IC engine. The day one was ended at 4.45 pm.
On day two i.e. on 12th January 2020, the workshop started at 10.00 am with an elaborative seminar on engine maintenance and overhauling which was delivered by Dr. S. K. Bhele. He has covered complete aspects of engine maintenance and the causes of improper maintenance and engine tuning.
The demonstration of dismantling and assembly of four strokes HERO HUNK, 149 cc engine was given by Mr. Uttamji Hatwar & team, from Hatwar Automobiles, Ramtek. He has elaborated the functions of each and every component and their importance in deciding the engine performance.
The workshop was ended with a Valedictory Ceremony in presence of a Chief Guest respected Dr. B. Ram Rathan Lal, Principal KITS, Ramtek, Dr. R. K. Bopche, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. P. S. Ashtankar, Asso. Dean Student Activities, Dr. Y. M. Jibhakate HOD, Mechanical Engineering, Coordinators of workshop, HOD’s of various departments, faculty members and participants.
The workshop report was presented by Mr. S. A. Borikar, Coordinator of workshop which was most comprehensive. Based on feedback collected from the participants, it has been concluded that the motive behind workshop was fulfilled satisfactorily. The certificates were distributed by the hands of dignitaries during Valedictory Ceremony. The workshop was conducted successfully; all the participants took an active part in each session of the workshop. Students found more responsive during cross-questionings.
Dr. Mahesh Mawale did the anchoring during Inaugural and Valedictory Ceremonies. Prof N. N. Suraskar and Mechanical Engineering Association office bearers worked hard for the grand success of two days workshop.
